The Chopra Foundation Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice

This notice supplements The Chopra Foundation’s and applies to personal data defined as “consumer health data” subject to the Washington State My Health My Data Act (MHMDA). This notice describes the following:
- The categories of consumer health data collected;
- How we use the consumer health data;
- With whom we share the consumer health data; and
- How consumers can withdraw consent from future collection or sharing of their health data.
Categories of consumer health data collected
The Chopra Foundation does not request or require any information from you related to your health or mental status. Rather, we provide information and tools for informational purposes only.
We may learn health-related information about a user if it is offered to us voluntarily when a user posts content on our websites or contacts us via email, phone or chat. We learn about health-related preferences based on online behavioral advertising collected with tracking technologies. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information about our use of tracking technologies.
We may enable you and others to participate in in-person, telephonic or online group lessons, meditations, workshops and other sessions as well as in online groups, chat rooms and message boards. In connection with these forums you may have the opportunity to share comments, perspectives and other information with The Chopra Foundation community which may relate to your health or mental status. You may also share testimonials or reviews of our products and services or ideas and comments about ways to improve the Services for public display or for our private use which may be revealing of your health and mental status.
How we use the consumer health data
We use the health data that you voluntarily provide to improve the Services, provide information that may be of interest to you, and to make the Services more meaningful to you.
We may use the data on an anonymized and de-identified basis for legitimate business purposes, including for analysis, scholarship, monetization, research and development.
With whom we share the consumer health data
Some content offered by you in forums described above, including chat rooms and message boards, may remain publicly accessible indefinitely and may be accessible on websites not hosted by The Chopra Foundation. Other forums, including group lessons, meditations and workshops may be recorded and remain accessible to other participants in the session or the particular program to which the session relates.
The Chopra Foundation may share data among its affiliates.
We may share your personal data to third parties who perform services on our behalf, including without limitation our technology providers, payment processor, and professional advisors.
The Chopra Foundation may record its interactions with our users (including via phone, chat, videoconference or other media) where consumer health data may be shared. We use third party service providers to record and store transcripts of conversations and chats.
We may disclose information if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary by law or the legal process, to protect and defend our or others’ interests or property, or to enforce agreements you enter into with us.
We may share your data with a third party in the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer, liquidation or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or membership interests with such third party.
We may share aggregated and de-identified information with third parties for any legitimate business purposes, including analytical, monetization, research and development.
How consumers can withdraw consent from future collection or sharing of their health data
The provision of your health data is entirely voluntarily. Please note that once the health data is de-identified and aggregated with the health data of other users, it may continue to be shared, but in that event it no longer identifies you.
